NEPSE declines by 8.24 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 3.71 billion

KATHMANDU, June 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday decreased by 8.24 points to close at 2,051.92 points.

The market opened at 2,060.16 points and reached the day’s low at 2,047.34 points in the first one and a half hours. The index remained almost stable for the remaining trading hours, while it spiked up around four points in the last two minutes before the market closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 1.56 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 3.71 billion from Rs 4.05 billion on Wednesday.

Three out of the 13 groups, including ‘others,’ banking and mutual funds had their indices increased by marginal points. Of the 10 losers, life insurance shed the largest of 99.01 points.

Among individual companies, 47 were recorded as gainers whereas 188 were the losers.

Nepal Finance Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 227.64 million. The company was also recorded as the topmost loser. Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company Limited with a gain of 7.09 percent of its market value was the highest gainer.
