KATHMANDU, Jan 14: In the first five months of the current fiscal year, as many as 621 drunk driving accidents occurred across the country. According to Nepal Police, these incidents occurred between mid-July 2024 and mid-December of the current fiscal year 2023/24.

These accidents resulted in 47 fatalities and 807 injuries. The Kathmandu Valley recorded the highest number of such accidents, with 377 cases, leading to 16 deaths and 399 injuries.
In contrast, Karnali Province had the fewest accidents, with 12 recorded incidents. However, 14 people were injured, and there were no fatalities.
