KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined by 15.93 points to close at 2,734.93 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,750.87 points and initially shed around 17 points in the first half an hour of trading. The index then jumped to the day’s high to 2,764.22 points in the next 25 minutes. The index reached the day’s low at 2,717.92 points in the last 10 minutes of the trading hours. The market recovered around 17 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, decreased by 5.02 points. The daily turnover fell to Rs 8.36 billion from Rs 9.13 billion on Wednesday.
Only two groups—trading and life insurance—added 179.89 points and 109.52 points, respectively, to their indices. Of the 11 losers, hotels and tourism shed the largest of 258.66 points.
Among the individual companies, only 40 were gainers while 201 lost in their market values. Nepal Finance Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 421.93 million.
Support Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Ltd with a decline of 8.37 percent of its market value was registered as the highest loser. Khanikhola Hydropower Co Ltd with an increase of 9.98 percent in its market price was the largest gainer.
