KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday lost 10.66 points to close at 2,633.27 points, while the daily turnover plunged to Rs 8.92 billion.
The secondary market opened at 2,643.93 points and reached the day’s high at 2,650.72 points in just the first two minutes. The index fell by 18 points in the next half an hour, followed by a surge of 19 points in the next one hour. The market then fell to the day’s low at 2,625.8 points in the last four minutes of trading hours.
Nepse stretches winning run with record weekly turnover
Five groups were the gainers, with finance adding the largest of 84.52 points in its market value. Of the eight losers, life-insurance shed the largest of 143.61 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, lost 2.07 points. Daily turnover declined by Rs 35 billion compared to the transaction of Sunday.
Among the individual companies, 106 were gainers while 128 were registered as losers. Sindhu Bikash Bank had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 298.37 million.
Saptakoshi Development Bank lost the highest of 8.46 percent of its market values. Nyadi Hydropower Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
