Federal Ministry requests KMC to disclose investigation into CAO Gauragain

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA) has asked the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to provide details about the ongoing investigation into Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Saroj Guragain.

KATHMANDU, March 3: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA) has asked the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to provide details about the ongoing investigation into Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Saroj Guragain.


On February 27, the MoFAGA sent a letter to the KMC, requesting clarification on the investigation's status.

"We have received the letter with reference number 450, dated January 8, 2025, and are now aware of the matter. As per the decision made on February 27, 2025, we request you to provide clarification on the status of the ongoing investigation into the Chief Administrative Officer of the KMC," the letter states.


The KMC initiated an investigation into Guragain for approving the building construction plan without completing the process for Kathmandu Tower.


The KMC formed a committee, led by former secretary Shankar Prasad Pandey, to conduct the investigation. The committee has yet to submit its report. The KMC has stated that it will receive the report soon.
