KATHMANDU, Jan 10: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has bid farewell to the Nepali team that are set to play the ICC U-19 Women's World Cup starting next week in Malaysia.
CAN organized a special ceremony on Friday to bid farewell to the team. Minister for Youth and Sports, Teju Lal Chaudhary, along with officials of CAN, was present at the farewell event.
Puja Mahato is the captain of the team. CAN announced the 15-member team under the captaincy of Puja only last Saturday. The players who participated in the Asia Cup held in Malaysia last month have been given continuity in the team.

Being organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the U-19 Women's World Cup will begin on January 18 under. Along with Nepal, 16 teams will participate in the second edition of the World Cup.
Nepal, who qualified for the World Cup for the first time, will begin the World Cup by playing against Bangladesh on January 18. Nepal will compete against Scotland on January 20 in their second match and against Australia on January 22 in their final match of the group stage.
Before that, Nepal will play two practice matches against the West Indies and the USA. In the World Cup, Nepal is in Group ‘D’ along with Bangladesh, Australia and Scotland.
In group ‘A’ there are former winners India, Sri Lanka, hosts Malaysia and the West Indies, while group 'B' consists of England, Ireland, Pakistan and the USA and group 'C' consists of New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa and Nigeria.
Nepal will qualify for the Super Six if they finish in the top 3 in the group stage match. The top two teams from both groups of Super Six will reach the semi-finals.
The Nepali team includes Puja Mahato (captain), Sony Pakhrin, Kiran Kumari Kunwar, Krishma Gurung, Sana Praveen, Sneha Mahara, Sabitri Dhami, Trishna Biswakarma, Riya Sharma, Alisha Kumari Yadav, Kusum Godar, Seemana KC, Jyotsnika Marasini, Rachana Chaudhary and Anu Kadayat.
