Prime Minister’s T-20 women’s national cricket tournament to kick off today

KATHMANDU Jan 14: All preparations for the Prime Minister's Cup T-20 Women's National Cricket Tournament, which will begin today, have been completed. The tournament will be held at the Fapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi.


Far Western Provincial Cricket Association President Basudev Joshi said at a press conference held here on Monday that preparations, including cleaning the field and blacktopping where necessary have been completed and that the players have already reached Dhangadhi.

The Association’s Secretary Laxman Bhatta said that teams from seven provinces and two departmental teams - APF and the Tribhuvan Army Club - will participate in the tournament, which will be held until Magh 12. 


According to him, the participating teams have been divided into two groups. Group 'A' includes Lumbini, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as the Armed Police Force team. Group 'B' includes Koshi, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces, as well as the Tribhuvan Army Club. 


Sudurpaschim and Gandaki provinces will face each other in the opening match today. The tournament is being held under the action plan of the National Sports Council, organized by the Nepal Cricket Association and managed by the Far Western Provincial Cricket Association.


The team that wins first place in the competition will receive a cash prize of Rs 500,000, according to Tej Prakash Bhatta, a member of the Women's Development Committee of the Cricket Association of Nepal. According to him, the second place will be awarded Rs 300,000, the Player of the Series will be awarded Rs 50,000, the Best Batter and Best Bowler will be awarded Rs 25,000 each, and the Player of the Match of each match will be awarded Rs 3,000.


The National Sports Council has announced that the first and second prizes will be provided by the National Sports Council, and the remaining prizes will be sponsored by the Sudurpaschim Sports Council.
