Mothers in wake of foreign employment: Struggles with unwanted pregnancies and shattered dreams-Part II

In Nepal, foreign employment is often seen as a path to prosperity, but for many women, it becomes a journey marked by exploitation, heartbreak and shattered dreams. Among them is a 32-year-old mother who returned home carrying the weight of an unwanted pregnancy—a painful reminder of the abuse she faced by an agent in Kathmandu before leaving for Kuwait. Her story reflects the harsh realities faced by many women who leave their families behind in search of a better future, only to encounter exploitation and despair abroad. Despite her desire to provide for her two children, this mother finds herself trapped in a cycle of trauma, grappling with shattered dreams while battling the emotional and physical burdens of her present reality due to unwanted pregnancy.

Every mother feels an unconditional love for her child. However, this mother feels no love for the baby growing inside her. She went abroad with the dream of providing a better future for her two children: her 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son. But fate has shattered her dream, leaving her wishes in turmoil.
