Construction of Shahid Smriti Stadium completed

The construction of Shahid Smriti Stadium in Bagmati Rural Municipality of Makawanpur has been completed.

HETAUDA, Jan 15: The construction of Shahid Smriti Stadium in Bagmati Rural Municipality of Makawanpur has been completed.


The stadium has been built in six months with Rs 45 million from the municipality and mobilization of free labour worth Rs 20 million.


Chairperson of Bagmati rural municipality, Sarkesh Ghalan, said local people, along with employees and social workers of nine wards, donated labour on every public holiday for six months.

He expressed the belief that the stadium would contribute to the development of sports here. “The stadium is a testament to what’s possible when local officials and community members work together with determination to drive development,” he noted.


He further said the municipality has decided to set up a sports academy after the construction of the stadium.


With the completion of the stadium, the Bagmati Gold Cup National Football Tournament is set to be held from February 13.


Earlier editions of the tournament were held at the playground of Janata Secondary School, Faparbari, it is informed.
