Four books short listed for "Bimal Smriti Puraskar"

DHARAN, May 5: Four different literary works have been short-listed for this year’s “Bimal Smriti Puraskar” with a cash prize of Rs 51,000. “Bimal Smriti Puraskar” which has been initiated from this year to promote and encourage litterateurs and other writers, will be awarded on May 7, the death anniversary of poet Bimal Gurung.

DHARAN, May 5: Four different literary works have been short-listed for this year’s “Bimal Smriti Puraskar” with a cash prize of Rs 51,000. “Bimal Smriti Puraskar” which has been initiated from this year to promote and encourage litterateurs and other writers, will be awarded on May 7, the death anniversary of poet Bimal Gurung.


The organizers informed that one among the four selected books will be awarded with the title prize of 51,000 based on the recommendation by three-member committee formed by the Bimal Smriti Library, Dharan. “The name of jury members has not been disclosed with a view to avoid any type of influence and pressure,” said Chewan Rai, secretary of the library.

A novel ‘Sanjeevani’ by Kalpana Kalapunja, ‘Pheri Phulena Godawari’ a story collection by Mahesh Paudyal and two poem collections ‘Aadha Ujyalo’ of Bhishma Uppreti and ‘Mijor’ by Prashanna Ghimire have been short-listed for the competition.


For this year’s competition 42 literary works were registered at the Bimal Smriti Library published in the year of 2074 BS. “Bimal Smriti Library” was established by Bimal Gurung’s father, former British army, and mother Saraswati Gurung in memory of their son, who lost his life in his early age.
