KATHMANDU, Jan 14: The world-famous travel website ‘Tripadvisor’ has listed Kathmandu as the second best destination in the world for solo travel.
According to Tripadvisor, Kathmandu has been listed as a solo travel destination according to historical, cultural and hospitality importance.

Mani Lamichhane, director at the Nepal Tourism Board said that Kathmandu has been listed as the 27th best destination in the world and the 7th best cultural city. Lamichhane said that Tripadvisor ranking Nepal as the second best destination for solo travel is significant for the tourism sector.
He said that 9 percent of the world’s population goes on solo travel. The culture of visiting new destinations on one's own initiative is gradually increasing. He said that it is a matter of pride that Kathmandu has been listed as one of the top destinations by platforms like Tripadvisor.
From 2023 to 2030, the percentage of solo travelers is projected to remain 9.1 percent of the world population. He further added that the practice of solo travel is gradually increasing after Covid 19 pandemic.
