COVID-19 death tally hits 41 in Parsa

Two more people succumb to COVID-19

BIRGUNJ, Sept 5: Parsa district in Province 2 reported two more deaths due to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection on Saturday.


With two elderly people succumbing to this viral infection, the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the district, which shares its southern border with India, has reached 41.

According to the District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, a 77-year-old male patient from Birgunj Submetropolitan City breathed his last while being rushed to Kathmandu from Birgunj for further treatment on Friday evening. “Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital had referred him to Kathmandu,” said administrative officer of the Birgunj Municipality Binaya Shrivastav. The deceased person was diagnosed with this viral disease on Thursday.


Another 75-year old patient, who had been undergoing treatment at Narayani Temporary COVID-19 Hospital in Birgunj for the past 15 days, also breathed his last on Friday evening, according to DAO, Parsa.


The man hailing from Pakahamainpur Rural Municipality-2 in the district was admitted to the hospital earlier on August 25, according to hospital spokesperson Dr Atulesh Chaurasiya.  He had been suffering from tuberculosis for long. Most recently, he was also suffering from pneumonia, according to the hospital administration.
