DAMAK, March 5: A mentally-ill woman of Morang was killed after rape on Sunday.

As per the preliminary investigation of police, it has been found that the 45-year-old woman's face was smashed by a stone apparently after she refused to have sex with the perpetrators. According to Police Inspector Kiran Prasain of Area Police Office (APO), Madhumalla, the injured woman was raped and later murdered.

"Her face was hardly recognizable and there were no clothes in her body," said Inspector Prasain, adding, "The perpetrators must have done this under the influence of alcohol." Police have speculated that the woman must have been killed at around 12 am on Sunday. The dead body of the woman was recovered from Gangri River.

According to Inspector Chandra Bahadur Thapa of APO, the woman must have been forcefully given a drink before the incident. He further informed that the perpetrators are at large after the crime. "We have come closer to finding out the culprits. Preparations are underway to nab them as soon as possible," said Thapa. The body has already been sent to Mangalbare hospital for postmortem.

On Saturday, the mentally-ill woman of a Tamang family was busy at home making shed for her pigs along with her husband.  In the evening, she had gone to her parent's home which is just a few minutes away from her home. While leaving her parental home, she had reportedly consumed alcoholic drink which is regarded as customary in the Tamang culture.

Unfortunately, she was raped on the way back home. She has three children. There were no human settlements nearby the incident site.
