Birgunj reports three new COVID-19 deaths

BIRGUNJ, Sept 1: Three patients who were undergoing treatment at different hospitals here in Birgunj died due to COVID-19 infection.


A 53-year-old male patient from Harpatgunj, Birgunj Metropolitan City-20, who was receiving treatment at the Narayani Temporary COVID-19 Hospital set up in Birgunj Healthcare Hospital breathed his last at 12:45 am earlier on Tuesday, confirmed Dr Atulesh Chaurasiya, spokesperson for the hospital.

The patient had been suffering from diabetes, kidney problems and pneumonia. He was admitted to the hospital on August 15 after the confirmation of the viral infection.


Another patient who died in the course of treatment at Narayani Hospital is yet to be identified, according to Dr Chaurasiya. “The male patient of about 60 years of age passed away around 9 pm yesterday,” he added. His infection was confirmed during a lab test only after his death. The man was taken to hospital by the locals when he was found sick on the streets of Birgunj. “He had high fever and was physically weak.”


Bara patient dies in Birgunj


Another male patient from Bara district also died while undergoing treatment at COVID-19 hospital set up at the Birgunj-based Gandak Hospital.


The 60-year-old man from Kolbhi, Bara, who was admitted to the hospital six days ago, breathed his last at 4:50 on Tuesday morning. He had been shifted to the intensive care unit after his health condition deteriorated.
