Birgunj reports three more COVID-19 related deaths

BIRGUNJ, July 31: Three persons including the chief executive officer (CEO) of Jagadamba Enterprises succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Birgunj on Thursday.

BIRGUNJ, July 31: Three persons including the chief executive officer (CEO) of Jagadamba Enterprises succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Birgunj on Thursday.


The 56-year-old CEO of Jagadamba Enterprises passed away while undergoing treatment at the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital at 11PM, according to Dr Niraj Kumar Singh. He was admitted to the hospital nine days ago. He was put on a ventilator after he complained of severe breathing difficulties. He had tested positive for coronavirus recently. He was an Indian national and a long time heart patient. He had undergone heart surgery recently.

The two other deceased are a 35-year-old man from Birgunj-16 and a 65-year-old man from Ward No. 2, Chhapkaiya. The 65-year-old man died at his home on Thursday morning. The swab specimen of the two deceased was collected and sent for testing, which came out positive for coronavirus on Thursday night itself.  


The District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa sealed off Jagadamba Enterprises following the confirmation of novel coronavirus infection in four employees at the industry located at Birgunj Pathlaiya Industrial Corridor in Birgunj Metropolitan City-32, on July 28.


A team from the DAO, Parsa locked the main gate of the factory earlier on Tuesday afternoon. The factory was sealed off in a bid to curtail the further spread of COVID-19.


The chief executive officer of Jagadamba Enterprises had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier on July 21. Following his infection, three other staffers (aged 26, 48 and 56) were diagnosed with this disease on Monday evening in the course of contact tracing. The factory was sealed off following consultation with the stakeholders.


10 persons succumbed to coronavirus in Birgunj in the past 15 days.
