Two dozen roads damaged by flood in Mahottari

GAUSHALA, July 17: Some two dozen road sections of Mahottari district have been damaged due to a massive flood in the past week.


According to the District Administration Office, Mahottari, out of 42 road networks in the district, 24 road sections have been damaged due to flood.

Main road sections of the district including postal highway (the lifeline of Tarai-Madhes), Jaleshwor-Janakpur road, Jaleshwor-Samsi road, Jaleshwor-Matihani road have been obstructed. Chief District Officer of Mahottari, Umesh Kumar Dhakal, said that repair and maintenance of the damaged road sections would be completed within five days and vehicular movement would come into operation thereafter.


Similarly, construction of a Bailey bridge on Bhabsi rivulet located at Bardibas has begun from today after massive rainfall on Friday night swept away the bridge constructed over the rivulet. More than 5,000 vehicles use the bridge daily.
