The recovered coins include five silver coins weighing 54 milligrams and 200 copper coins weighing seven kilograms, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Madanjit Mahara. They were put in a clay pot.

The recovery was made when an excavator dug around three feet, he said. Archaeologists have said the coins may have been hidden under the earth for fear of robbery during the Mughal rule. The recovered coins have been sent to the Department of Archeology for a study, said the police. RSS
