KATHMANDU, June 13: Peace Fitness Center, Kathmandu is holding the Open Badminton Tournament at its own court in Sinamangal from June 25 to July 2.


Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Monday, the hosts informed that the tournament will feature men's doubles, veteran's doubles and men's singles events.

Tournament Coordinator Manamohan Kumar Shrestha said that players from all over the country can take part in the tournament. However, players ranked up to 20th in the national rankings will not be allowed to take part in any events.


“We are holding only men's event this year. We will include women's events from next year,” said Shrestha. The winners, runners-up and third finishers in men's doubles event will get Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, while top three finishers in veteran's sections will take home Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000. Likewise, top three position holders will receive Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 6,000.


Meanwhile, Shrestha informed that the registration fees for doubles, veteran and singles will be Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000. According to the hosts, Shree Sahkali Savings and Credit Cooperative and Big Plan Bag Factor are sponsoring the tournament.
