KATHMANDU, July 12: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is seeking the vote of confidence today.
He is presenting the proposal for the vote of confidence in the meeting of the House of Representatives that began at 11AM today.
PM Dahal to take vote of confidence on March 22
According to the Parliament Secretariat, Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled tol present a proposal in the House of Representatives to seek a vote of confidence as per Rule 155 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2022, in accordance with Article 100 (2) of the Constitution. The Parliament Secretariat stated that this proposal will be put to a vote in Parliament during the meeting today.
Prime Minister Dahal's government fell into a minority after the CPN-UML as well as other fringe parties withdrew their support from the government. A majority of 138 MPs need to vote in favor to secure vote of confidence in the 275-member House of Representatives.
Currently, Prime Minister Dahal has the backing of only 63 votes, including 32 from the CPN (Maoist Center), 21 from the Rastriya Swatantra Party and 10 from the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party.
