CHARLESTON, Aug 26: Federal agents in South Carolina have seized 35 tons of a chemical used to make methamphetamine at the Port of Charleston and are investigating whether the contraband is tied to a drug operation.
The Drug Enforcement Administration tells local media outlets that the chemical, benzaldehyde, was found in 55-gallon drums at the port August 17.

There was enough of the chemical to fill two 20-foot steel shipping containers. It was enough to make about 60 tons of meth.
The drug was not properly declared through customs and authorities think it was being shipped by drug traffickers.
