Bike sale rides on festive offers, buying spree

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The sale of motorbikes is at its peak. The demand is so high that all the major players in the Nepali two-wheeler market are having a hard time supplying bikes.



The main reason behind the impressive rise in the sale of two-wheelers is the huge disposable income that people have at this time of year and attractive schemes brought by the dealers. [break]



Officials of Syakar Company Limited -- the authorized distributor of Honda and Hero Honda bikes - are a busy bee as they have been going through increasing booking and sales every other day.



“Sales have gone up by 30 to 40 percent this festive season. We are already facing shortage of some bikes, including the newly launched Honda Unicorn Dazzler,” said Saurav Jyoti, the managing director of Syakar Company Limited.



Syakar is offering cash discounts ranging from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 on every Honda motorcycles. It is also giving away 10 grams of gold to 25 lucky customers through lucky draw at the end of the scheme.



Similarly, Syakar is offering cash discount of Rs 4,000 and 1 gram of god for free with every purchase of Hero Honda motorcycles. It is also giving away Philips LCD TV to 20 lucky customers.



Jyoti informed Republica that CB Shine is the largest selling bike among Honda and Hero Honda this season.



Morang Auto Works - the sole distributor of Yamaha motorbikes - is also seeing rise in sale. “We don´t have most of the model in stock. We have already ordered the manufacturer for more bikes and they will arrive here Monday,” said Suraj Manandhar, the deputy general manager -- motorcycle division, MAW.



For this festive season, Morang Auto has introduced ´Yamaha Dashain Dhoom´ under which the company is giving away Dish Nepal set top box with every purchase of YBR 110, SS125 and Enticer.



It is offering Yamaha racing jacket to the buyers of Yamaha FZ-S series and R15. A lucky winner from each category will win Yamaha R1 1000 cc and Yamaha FZ1-1000 cc bikes.



“R15 is the largest selling Yamaha bike this season,” Manandhar added.



Hansraj Hulaschand and Company - the authorized distributor of Bajaj bikes - is also seeing rise in sales. “Sale generally picks up during festivals and the offers act as a catalyst to increase the flow consumers. Sale nearly doubles during festive season,” said Ashish Sharma, the showroom manager of the company.



For this Dashain, the company has launched "Good Luckai Ramro" scheme under which buyers can win cash prizes and three Ford Figo cars over the campaign period stretching to three months.



“Every buyer will get a scratch card through which s/he can win cash prize up to Rs 100,000 and win a Ford Figo every month through lucky draw,” Sharma added.



Bajaj Pulsar 150 is the highest selling bike from HH and Company this season. “As this bike fits for everyone, it´s being sold a lot,” he added.
