CHITWAN, Sept 28: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said the government was preparing to register the proposal to amend the constitution before the Dashain festival. 


Saying consultations were going on with the main opposition CPN-UML on the issue, he said, "Discussion with the UML is taking place. Constitution amendment proposal will be registered on the basis of a national consensus." 


PM Dahal was speaking at a press conference organised by the Press Centre, Chitwan. 

He also informed that Madhesi Morcha was informed of the constitution amendment proposal during a meeting with them on Tuesday and that the Morcha was assured that the constitution implementation and the constitution amendment would go simultaneously.

He went on saying that the Cabinet decision to set up local units being based on ilaka (area) of the District Development Committee had eased the process to organise local poll on time (Mid-April) as 'the government was on a war-footing in this regard'. 


He also said all three levels of elections would take place within the stipulated time. 


Touching on the Tikapur incident wherein eight people mostly police personnel and a two-year-old boy were killed in a clash with demonstrators, he said just discussions were underway whether to withdraw cases filed against the accused in the incident. 


Saying the Agriculture and Forestry University was established on his own initiatives, the PM also said he was positive about resolving problems if any university in the country was facing in. RSS
