South Asian Veteran TT concludes

KATHMANDU,July 25: Kumud Kumar Rai of India on Monday claimed the singles title of men's 50 years and above category in the First South Asian Veterans Table Tennis Tournament that concluded at the National Table Tennis Training Centre, Lainchaur in Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU,July 25: Kumud Kumar Rai of India on Monday claimed the singles title of men's 50 years and above category in the First South Asian Veterans Table Tennis Tournament that concluded at the National Table Tennis Training Centre, Lainchaur in Kathmandu.



Kumud defeated his compatriot Prakash 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 in the final to win the title.



Kiran Shrestha and Ranjan Subba jointly finished third.



Similarly, Bikash Mahajan of India won the 40 years and above title beating his countryman Nitin Tosinwal 11-6, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6. Manmit Singh of India and Rajendra Kapali of Nepal jointly came third.



In the women's section, Nilam Narula of India came first in the 50 years and above section, while Pratima Menon of India finished second.



Dharti Shrestha and Hira Nakarmi finished joint third.



Meanwhile, Indira Puadel of Nepal won the 40 years and above title, while Urmila Khadka Oli finished second.



Nepal's Samjhana Pokharel and Sujita Adhikari came third.



Altogether 27 players from Nepal, 24 from India, two from Pakistan, six from the Maldives and three players from Bangladesh took part in the three-day event.
