SHERA is a Thailand-based company that manufactures fiber cement board, sidings, roofing and concrete roof tiles.Saroj Joshi, managing director of Valley Plus, said SHERA homes have been launched in Nepal to provide safer, lighter and faster construction facility to local people. "We have been selling SHERA products for the past 10 years and all the projects. All the projects, that used SHERA materials, didn't suffer any damage in the recent earthquake," said Joshi.
SHERA products are fire, termite and moisture proof and is best for flooring, siding, partitioning, ceiling and cladding, according to officials of Valley Plus. They said fiber-cement products provide strength, stability and versatility in applications. "
"We want to inform people about the latest construction technology that is appropriate for Nepal and help provide jobs for affected people by training tem to build SHERA home"," Sachin Chirkute, vice president of SHERA Solutions System, said, adding that they will provide a four-day extensive training for interested workers.
Upon completion of the training, the workers will be able to earn around Rs 30,000 monthly, according to officials of Valley Plus.
Valley Plus has put a mock-up SHERA house on display on the premises of SB Furniture in Lagankhel. The four-room mock-up house was built in 21 days with an investment of Rs 1.1 million.
According to Valley Plus, the cost of SHERA products is Rs 2,000 per square foot. The company provides 50-year warranty on SHERA homes.
