Dahal storms out of meeting before Shera Durbar issue is addressed

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal stormed off the State Affairs Committee meeting on Thursday before Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak could answer a question about the Shera Durbar land grab issue.


UML lawmaker Basudev Ghimire had asked Home Minister Lekhak for clarification on the Shera Durbar issue, but Lekhak said he would respond at the end of the meeting. Former Prime Minister Dahal stated that if the Shera Durbar land was acquired illegally, it should be returned to the government and thanked the government for taking action. after expressing his views on the CIAA Amendment Bill. He also expressed his views on the CIAA Amendment Bill.

Former PM Dahal then left the meeting. At the end of the session, Home Minister Lekhak confirmed that if the land had been wrongfully transferred, action would be taken and the land would be returned. He assured a thorough investigation would be conducted.


General Secretary of Nepali Congress Gagan Thapa delivered a snide remark aimed at Dahal’s action of evading the discussion on the land grab issue at the meeting. “Call a meeting to express gratitude,” Thapa said, inducing a round of laughter from the meeting. The committee meeting on Thursday passed the bill to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act 2059 BS after the discussions.
