Police manhandle journos during SLC exams

Lahan, March 18: Journalists associated with different state and private media houses were reportedly thrashed in course of collecting reports of the School Leaving Certificate examinations on Monday.



The reporters who were at the Lahan-based Pashupati Adarsha Higher Secondary School to take reports of the examinations were thrashed by Assistant Sub- Inspector of the Armed Police Force, JR Singh.



Kantipur Television Lahan reporter Raj Kumar Raut, RSS Reporter Manilal Bishwakarma, Santosh Subedi of Gorkhapatra Daily and Rambabu Yadav of Annapurna Post suffered mistreatment from the APF man at around 9:00 am.



According to victim Raut, they were manhandled as they were about to capture the scene of chits taken out by him from the exam hall. The APF personnel verbally abused them and snatched their cameras.

Similarly, Vice President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Siraha, Shiva Kumar Saha and Secretary Jeevachh Yadav were barred from entering the exam center premises by the APF personnel.



The Chapter has expressed serious concern over misbehavior meted out to journalists and demanded action against the accused Singh.
