Poudel, who had gone abroad three years ago, said his wife made off with Rs 500,000 in cash, six tola of gold, and the piece of land worth over Rs 3 million that he bought in his wife´s name. He also registered a complaint with the police, requesting them to search for Gita Devi.
According to Poudel, his wife left him for another man two weeks after he arrived back from abroad. She also took their son Rijan with her. “I sent all the money I earned abroad into my wife´s bank account but she has eloped with another man and also taken my son with her,” he said.
Dejected over his broken family, Poudel is now even more anxious how to retrieve his property. “I worked hard in the Gulf for my family´s welbeing. Now, I face disaster,” he said.
Family members suspect that Gita and Suraj might have gotten close after they were introduced to each other through the social networking site Facebook.
Meanwhile, according to Silwal´s wife Bishnu, her husband had been threatening her for a long time to leave the house. “I had to undergo physical and psychological torture for so long. After he brought a new wife, I finally realised why he used to treat me so badly,” said Bishnu. She has her citizenship certificate and her marriage is registered, and she says she will to go court for justice.
However, Silwal has denied marrying Gita Devi. “It is true I´m not on good terms with my wife but it is only a rumor that I have married another woman,” Suraj clarified.
