DANG, July 21: The chief minister (CM) of Lumbini Province, Jokh Bahadur Mahara, has resigned. CM Mahara resigned while addressing a meeting of the Lumbini Province Assembly on Sunday.

After the alliance partner UML withdrew from the government on July 4 and withdrew the support given to the government, CM Mahara fell into a minority, leading to his resignation. He also asked the next government to work in the interest of the people.

He said that he had resigned because he could not stay even for a moment in a caretaker government.

After the resignation of CM Mahara, now the path has been opened for the Nepali Congress-UML alliance, which has created a new equation for the formation of a new government.
