TIKAPUR, Dec 14: Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhury, the central president of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, has complained that since the Tikapur incident of Kailali is of political nature, the previous governments had promised to release the accused many times, but they have not received justice.

She won from Kailali-1 in the recently-concluded House of Representatives election and said, "Since the accused of the Tikapur incident, including our party's founder Resham Chaudhary, are innocent, previous governments had made written and verbal commitments for their release, but they have not implemented it."

Chaudhary stated that the leaders and cadres of her party were forced to spend their lives in prison even though they were innocent. He complained that leaders and ministers are saying that this is a political incident, so they should be released, but they have not taken the initiative to release them.

She said, "The previous government also promised to release them. During the time of the Prime Minister of the previous government, KP Oli, there was a written agreement between the government and us. It is public and everyone can see it. Even when Maoist Chairman Dahal  was in the government, he promised to release Resham and others.” During our meeting, he said that since this is a political issue, justice will be done to Resham. But all the governments only gave assurances, no one did the work, she added.
