Prakash KC, winner of the eighth national games in weightlifting, admits that he never thought he would become a sportsperson. He started weightlifting at the age of 13 and since then he has often been winning the title of Junior Best Lifter Men in the national level. Recently, at the eighth national games, he broke the record by lifting 224 kg in the 67 kg body weight category. However, his personal best is 242 kg.

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The National Sports Council (NSC) felicitated gold medal winners of 35 different games played in the Eighth National Games with cash prizes on July 6. However, the council excluded 13 gold medalists of three other games of the same tournament.

NEPALGUNJ, April 18: The departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club’s Manju BK and Province 4’s Rupak Nepali have won gold medals in the open weight categories in the National Full Contact Karate Tournament under the ongoing Eighth National Games in Nepalgunj on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, April 17: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club won gold medal in mixed team events on the last day of the 16th National Judo Tournament on Tuesday, under the Eighth National Games. But Nepal Police Club dominated the medal tally with seven golds, one ahead of Army.

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The district qualifiers for the eighth National Games, which was postponed for two times, has been rescheduled to start from Friday. The qualifiers, which will be held by the Province 5, will run till December 7 in all the 77 districts. Secretariat Chief of the district Indra Bahadur Karki said that a total of 31,845 players have already registered their names for the district qualifiers.
