JHAPA, April 11: Three Terai districts including Jhapa have seen a high risk of dengue epidemic. 


Jhapa, Rupandehi and Mahottari districts have witnessed higher incidents of dengue epidemic according to Health Service Department Epidemiology and Disease Prevention Division.

Last year Rupandehi came across the highest 677 dengue-infected cases. Jhapa stood second with 535 dengue patients while Mahottari was in third with 438 dengue cases last year. 


According to Dr Bibek Kumar Lal of the Division, at least three persons died in three districts including Jhapa due to dengue last year. 


He said that dengue epidemic has increased over the years. "Its epidemic has increased 30 times in the past 50 years", Dr Lal shared. 


He further informed that more than half of the total population of the globe are prone to dengue infection.RSS
