Unveiling the manifesto, FSPN Chairman Ashok Rai said the party has adopted a system of governance with directly elected executive president and the prime minister elected by the parliament.
“The President will hold the executive power,” said FSPN Spokesperson Gopal Thakur. He further said that the president should be responsible towards the cabinet.
“As per the FSPN- proposed manifesto, the president will enjoy major executive powers while the prime minister will be responsible for supervising day-to-day administrative affairs,” added Thakur.
The party’s system of governance is similar to that of the UCPN (Maoist)´s as the latter also proposed executive president. “We have proposed that there should be 14 federal states in the country,” said Thakur. He further said that their party is in favor of two provinces in Tarai.
Thakur further added that their party also stands in favor of single identity based federalism.
With commitment to create an alternative political force to champion single ethnic identity-based federalism and a proportional, inclusive governance system in the country, the FSPN had been formed 11 months ago.
A group of leaders from the ethnic and indigenous communities had established the FSPN, with the former CPN-UML vice-chairman Ashok Rai as its chairman.
