KATHMANDU, August 11: Basant Shrestha, 55, the former ward chairman of Waling Municipality-9 in Syangja, has been found dead.
According to Ravindra Khanal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Shrestha was found dead on an inner unpaved road leading to Aandhikhola from Siddharth Highway located in Walling-13, Gahakhola.

DSP Khanal said that the body was found lying on the road while his scooter (Ga 16 P 5461) was lying on the side of the inner dirt road. It is said that an open container of Nudon, a white colored pesticide, was found near the scooter at the scene. According to DSP Khanal, this morning the locals reported that a man was lying dead on the road to the Ward Police Office in Waling.
The body has been brought to Garhau Primary Hospital, Walling for post-mortem. The police said that further investigation into the incident is underway. Shrestha was elected as the ward chairman in the local unit elections of 2015.
