Bangladeshi national involved in call bypass arrested

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Police on Friday nabbed a Bangladeshi national involved in illegal call bypass through voice over internet protocol (VOIP) and have seized 12 hundred SIM cards from him.



A special squad of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Mohammad Russel Ahamad along with 64 ports, 1228 port machines, 1200 SIM cards and a sack of recharge cards after a raid at Balkhu and Koteshwar. [break]



The confiscated SIM cards belonged to Nepal Telecom, NCELL and UTL companies.



The preliminary investigations by police revealed that the Bangladeshi national has been shifting to various places in Kathmandu since the last two-and-half years. He rented a room at Koteshwar just three weeks ago to operate illegal call bypass business through VOIP, police said.



The CIB and telecom service provider companies had found out the places after three weeks of investigation.
