Schools closed for three days due to cold weather

Birgunj Metropolitan City has closed schools within the metropolis area for three days from today due to the extreme cold.

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Birgunj Metropolitan City has closed schools within the metropolis area for three days from today due to the extreme cold.


In recent days, thick fog has blanketed the streets and other spaces of the district. The metropolis has decided to grant a three-day winter vacation from Janaury 8 to 10.

Hari Raut, Education Officer of the metropolis, informed that it decided to grant a three-day winter vacation to community and institutional schools by issuing a public notice. “Considering the adverse effects that may be inflicted to the health of students due to the increasing cold, all schools concerned are requested to suspend school-related activities by giving homework to students and creating an environment for studying at home,” he said.


Similarly, Parsagardhi Municipality has also issued a public notice on Poush 21 granting a winter vacation to community and institutional schools from Poush 22 to Magh 1, informed Education Branch Chief Dev Kumar Giri.
