KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has appointed NRNA President Badri KC to the Industry, Commerce, and Promotion Dialogue Council as one of its members. KC’s appointment to the council stems from the December 20, 2024 decision, under the 2075 BS Industry, Commerce, and Promotion Dialogue Council (Formation) Order.
President KC thanked the Prime Minister for the appointment. He said, "As the President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister and the entire Government of Nepal for appointing me as a member of this committee."
The Cabinet decided to facilitate regular dialogue between the public and private sectors and contribute to economic development, which led to the establishment of the council based on the formation order issued on September 21, 2018.
Council begins dialogue to promote industry, commerce

After the Prime Minister appointed members representing national institutions and business representatives, including the NRNA and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the council held its first meeting on Tuesday (February 11, 2025).
During the meeting, the government presented its efforts being made for economic and administrative reforms, amendments to 29 laws through ordinances, their positive impacts, progress in development and construction, and initiatives taken to facilitate start-ups and businesses.
The meeting formed committees under the council for various sectors, including production, infrastructure, social issues, trade, export, and governance and administration. These committees will discuss sectoral issues, propose solutions, and provide recommendations to the council.
During the meeting, KC put forth his suggestions, emphasizing the need to implement the economic, social, and cultural rights granted by the constitution to attract and encourage non-resident Nepalis to invest.
