From Struggle to Success: Mandira’s Bara and Yomari business turns her into a millionaire

From a humble struggle to a resounding success, Mandira Maharjan’s journey from grinding lentils with a stone to building a thriving Bara and Yomari business is a testament to resilience and hard work. Starting with just Rs 180 from her first day's sales in the bustling streets of Asan in Kathmandu, Mandira turned her small street-side venture into a multi-million rupee enterprise. Her unwavering commitment to quality, her ability to adapt amidst challenges like the 2015 earthquake and her ability to win the trust of hundreds of customers have solidified her reputation as a culinary icon. Employing 14 women and serving thousands daily, Mandira’s business not only preserves Newar culture but also inspires a new generation of entrepreneurs, showcasing how passion and perseverance can transform lives.
