Damage reported at Phungpingkatti checkpoint in Sindhupalchok due to earthquake

The earthquake this morning has caused damage to the Phungpingkatti checkpoint in Sindhupalchowk district. SP Santosh Khadka of Sindhupalchowk said that the building of the police post in Bhotekoshi-4 has developed cracks due to the quake. He said, "The building of the checkpoint has suffered minor damage."

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The earthquake this morning has caused damage to the Phungpingkatti checkpoint in Sindhupalchowk district. SP Santosh Khadka of Sindhupalchowk said that the building of the police post in Bhotekoshi-4 has developed cracks due to the quake. He said, "The building of the checkpoint has suffered minor damage."


A 7-magnitude earthquake centered in China was felt in Nepal on Tuesday morning. The earthquake occurred in the Dingge area, 35 kilometers from Shigatse. Police and local authorities are collecting details of the damage across the country.

The earthquake was felt in the Kathmandu Valley, surrounding areas, the Terai, and eastern Nepal, including the districts of Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Tehrathum, Panchthar, Ilam, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha, and Taplejung. After feeling the tremor, the general public rushed outdoors to open spaces.
