Sindhupalchok reports second COVID-19 case

SINDHUPALCHOK, June 3: A man from Sindhupalchok district tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.


The throat swab of a 32 -year-old male from Indrawati-10 of Sindhupalchok came positive for COVID-19 during at  the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku. He had recently returned from India.

According to Umesh Kumar Dhakal, the chief district officer, the infected man who was in a Melamchi-based regional quarantine facility is now in contact with the health workers.


The infected person arrived Melamchi along with four others from India on May 26. They were then asked to stay at the quarantine facility. His friends has, however, tested negative for the COVID-19.


Along with the infected man, large number of Nepali migrant workers returned home via bus. Many of them were from Kavrepalanchok district.


With this, the number of COVID-19 case in Sindhupalchok has reached two. Earlier in April, a woman  from Bahrabise area of the district died of coronavirus. She was the first victim of the COVID-19 in Nepal.
