Govt ‘serious’ about Nepali land being used by Indian side in Kanchanpur

Responding to a question raised by an MP during a meeting of the State Affairs Committee regarding the encroachment of land within Suklaphanta National Park, Minister Lekhak assured that the government is well aware of the issue and is addressing it with urgency.

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has expressed the government's serious concern over the use of Nepali land in Kanchanpur by Indian nationals. 


Responding to a question raised by an MP during a meeting of the State Affairs Committee regarding the encroachment of land within Suklaphanta National Park, Minister Lekhak assured that the government is well aware of the issue and is addressing it with urgency. 


“Reports from various sources indicate that Indian citizens are engaging in farming on Nepali territory,” said Lekhak. “The government is fully aware of the situation, is treating it seriously, and is working toward a resolution through diplomatic channels.”

Minister Lekhak emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding Nepal's land and borders. During Monday's meeting, UML lawmaker Raghuji Pant and Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu brought the matter to the minister’s attention, urging prompt action.
