KATHMANDU, Dec 13: The price of eggs has increased by Rs 30 per crate in two weeks.
Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association (NLPFA) has increased the selling price of eggs effective from Friday.
Egg price increased, still short of production cost
According to the new price, the price of medium eggs has reached to Rs 470 per crate, followed by Rs 485 per crate for large eggs. This price has been set by the manufacturer for the wholesaler.
The price of eggs will be higher when the consumer buys it. Currently, the retail price of eggs in the domestic market is Rs 550 to Rs 600 per crate.
The NLPFA stated that the price has increased as the production is not as per the market demand.
Last week, the NLPFA fixed the price of medium eggs at Rs 455 per crate and the price of large eggs at Rs 470 per crate. Prior to this, the price of medium eggs was fixed at Rs 440 and large eggs at Rs 455 per crate.
