KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Both men's and women's teams of Nepal have reached the finals in the first Kho Kho World Cup being held in India.
Today, both the men’s and women’s teams will compete in the finals, with Nepal facing India for the title. The women’s final will begin at 7 pm, and the men’s final will follow at 8:15 pm. Both matches will be held at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi.
On the women’s side, Nepal and India reached the finals by remaining undefeated. On the men's side, while India reached the finals unbeaten, Nepal lost only one match. After losing to India in the first match, Nepal won all the matches and reached the final.
Nepali women, men enter semis of Kho Kho World Cup
On the women’s side, Nepal won all four matches in Group C and entered the quarterfinals as the winners of Group C. Nepal defeated Bhutan 93-24 in the first group match, Germany 73-34 in the second match, Sri Lanka 110-10 in the third match and Bangladesh 84-24 in the fourth match.
Similarly, in the quarterfinals, Nepal defeated Iran with a margin of 103-8 to reach the semifinals, where they then won against Uganda with a score of 89-18.
Likewise, on the men's side, Nepal became the runner-up of Group A and reached the quarterfinals. After losing to India in the first match by 37-42, Nepal defeated Peru by 80-34 in the second match, Brazil by 134-8 in the third match and Bhutan by 98-8 margin in the fourth match.
In the quarterfinals, Nepal defeated Bangladesh 67-18 and reached the semi-finals. In the semi-final, Nepal defeated Iran 72-20 and reached the final.
Nepal now aims to put on an excellent performance in the final and lift the trophy.
