KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Price of gold escalated by Rs 2,300 per tola (11.66 grams) last week.


The records with the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Associations show that gold was traded at Rs 155,600 per tola in the domestic market on Sunday. It successively increased to Rs 157,900 per tola on Friday.

According to the federation, the gold price rose in response to the surge in value of the US dollar in Nepali market. Over the period, the value of domestic currency plunged to as low as Rs 138.79 per dollar from Rs 137.85.
