Nepal welcomes Gaza ceasefire agreement, urges release of Nepali hostage

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Government of Nepal has expressed support for the recent "Agreement for the Release of Hostages and Ceasefire in Gaza," welcoming it as a step toward peace and stability.

Nepal has consistently called for the release of all hostages, including Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi. The government appreciates the efforts of all parties involved in facilitating the agreement.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an official statement on Friday mentioned that Nepal has been closely monitoring the events in the Middle East since October 7, 2023. The statement further said that Nepal welcomes the agreement as this is expected to lead to lasting peace and stability in Gaza while ensuring the uninterrupted supply of humanitarian aid to the region's residents.
