KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Baburam Bhattarai-led Naya Shakti Party Nepal unveiled its election manifesto on Friday envisioning two East-West railways and cable cars in seven places including one from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp.


The party has proposed two separate East-West railways along the hilly terrain of the country and through the southern plains. Naya Shakti has also promised rail loop from Kerung to Lumbini and railways connecting Kathmandu to Birgunj. 


Election manifesto of the newly-established party has been inundated with promises of over half dozen hydropower projects, transmission lines, mid-hill highways, and establishment of new cities along various 11 places.

Naya Shakti party has included separate visions for development for each province but hasn't mentioned about provincial capitals of the concerned provinces. “Provincial capital cities of Asian standard will be developed in all seven provinces and two business and cultural cities will be developed in each province,” reads the manifesto. 


Unveiling the manifesto party coordinator Bhattarai reiterated for directly elected presidential election system for the political stability in the country. The party has also stressed the need for amending the constitution for fostering wider acceptability of the constitution. 


The party has proposed building a 500-bed hospital, a university, a technical institute, a science innovation center, and a stadium including other infrastructures for each province. Naya Shakti has also proposed putting Nepal's own satellite on the orbit for protecting national data. 


Naya Shakti has promised to increase grants to the 20,145 earthquake victims from Rs 300,000 to Rs 500,000. The party has been contesting parliamentary poll for the first time since its establishment two years ago. The party's election manifesto has also envisioned separate plans for youth, women and other politically and socially marginalized communities.  


The manifesto also talks about good governance and banning politically-affiliated trade unions of civil servants. The party has also proposed appointing the anti-corruption body chief from among bureaucrats and bringing improvements to the bureaucratic structure. 


Highlighting five commitments made during the party launch, the manifesto has also put forth the vision of elevating the country from a least-developed to developing country status in five years and developed country within 25 years if the party got a chance to lead the nation. The five commitments of Naya Shakti comprises including equitable prosperity, inclusive democracy, good governance, sovereign country, prosper socialism including others.
