Drug sales from grocery store, one arrested with 150,000 Tramadol capsules

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: A team of the Armed Police Force has arrested an individual on charges of selling illegal drugs from a grocery store.


The arrested person is Rajaram Mahato Koiri of Pragatinagar, Birgunj. A joint team from No. 13 Battalion Parsa, BOP Sirsiya, and the Birgunj Customs Office, deployed under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Police Suraj Rijal, made the arrest.

The drug was seized from the Srishti Kirana General Store, operated by Koiri in Pragatinagar, Birgunj-3. A total of 151,860 capsules of tramadol hydrochloride, which were illegally stored in five cartons, were confiscated.


Store operator Koiri was also taken into custody by the Armed Police Force in front of the Birgunj Customs Office. The Armed Police Force has stated that the arrested Koiri, along with the seized drugs, has been handed over to the police for further action.
