Import and export trade shows improvement: Goods worth Rs 148 billion imported in Mangsir

According to data released by the Department of Customs, the total imports in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2024/25 stand at Rs 661.48 billion, a 3 percent increase from the same period last year. This uptick in imports is a positive sign for the country's trade sector.

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Nepal's import and export trade has shown positive growth. In the month of Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), imports reached Rs 148.10 billion, marking a significant improvement compared to previous months. This increase comes after imports were limited to Rs 122 billion in Kartik (mid-October to mid-November).


According to data released by the Department of Customs, the total imports in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2024/25 stand at Rs 661.48 billion, a 3 percent increase from the same period last year. This uptick in imports is a positive sign for the country's trade sector.

Exports have also seen an increase, rising by 16.54 percent compared to the previous year. In the first five months, goods worth Rs 73.65 billion were exported while Rs 21 billion worth of goods were exported in Mangsir alone.
