House panel directs govt to submit SPP documents

KATHMANDU, June 17: The Parliamentary Committee on International Relations has told the government to furnish all documents related to the US State Partnership Program (SPP).

KATHMANDU, June 17: The Parliamentary Committee on International Relations has told the government to furnish all documents related to the US State Partnership Program (SPP).


The International Relations Committee organized a discussion on SPP on Friday. After the discussion, the chairperson of the committee, Pavitra Niraula Kharel directed the bodies concerned to provide all the documents related to SPP to the committee.

Chairperson Niraula has warned the government that Nepal should not participate in matters of military and strategic importance contrary to our foreign policy.


Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Narayan Khadka, Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma, Secretary at the Ministry of Defense Kiran Sharma and others were present at the discussion. Similarly, the committee has summoned Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to a meeting on Sunday to answer the questions raised about his US visit and the SPP.
