Nepal Bar Association urges political parties to find a way out

KATHMANDU, Nov 9: The agitating Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has demanded the resignation of the Chief Justice and urged the Prime Minister and political parties to take appropriate steps.


A meeting of the Bar on Monday decided to urge the parties to take action against Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana. The meeting also announced additional programs for the protest, said NBA Secretary Lilamani Paudel.

Secretary Paudel said that the NBA was agitating against corruption and political interference in the judiciary. The NBA meeting decided to take initiative to implement the report submitted by the committee led by Justice Harikrishna Karki for the overall reform of the judiciary.


The meeting has decided to hold a sit-in from November 9 to 16 wearing a black band, continuing the agitation the Chief Justice resigns.


The meeting has decided to request the district courts, high courts and tribunals to hold hearings in the Valley courts from 12 noon onwards as legal practitioners will participate in the Supreme Court-centric agitation. The NBA has also decided to issue a white paper.
