KATHMANDU, Jan 9: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is set to take action against health institutions that fail to renew their licenses.

The MoHP issued a notice, instructing private, government, non-government, and community hospitals and health institutions to renew their licenses before undertaking operations.

The MoHP issued the circular after receiving complaints that some non-government and community-level health institutions were operating without renewing their licenses. It also received reports that certain institutions were not meeting the required standards, besides failing to renew licenses.

Dr Prakash Budhathoki, the MoHP's spokesperson, stated that the Public Health Service Regulations mandate health institutions must obtain a license to provide health services. However, some institutions were found operating without one, leading the ministry to send letters urging them to renew their licenses.

Spokesperson Budhathoki stated, "The ministry will take action as per the regulations if it finds during monitoring that health institutions are operating without renewing their licenses."
